Match Report - First Team v Haverhill Sports Association

Colne were beaten by 4 goals to 0 by champions Haverhill Association in the last game of the season, although 3rd place was already secured for Colne, a good game of football was played by both sides.

The score line looks heavy but in fact things could have been a lot tighter, Cootey hit the bar after a delightful chip in the second half, and the stand in keeper for Haverhill made two brilliant fingertip saves in the 1st half. Wayne Saunders striking from distance, destined for the top corner, and Steve Hill with a similar shot from the edge of the box, both superb hits kept out at an early stage of the game.

Haverhill showed why they have scored over 100 goals this season, as they made no mistakes with their finishing.

Match Report - Reserve Team v Hatfield Peverel Reserves

The Ressies entertained Hatfield Peverel in their last fixture of the season. A must win game for Colne. And although Peverel had already been relegated, they fielded a very strong and experienced side.

Colne won the first corner of the game. Huwes whipped in a wicked left footer which was headed away for another corner. The same happened again, but third time of asking, it was Vince who timed his jump to climb highest, he met the ball...

Match Report - Colne Engaine & Bell United v First Team

Earls Colne were without no less than 8 first team regulars for this rearranged
fixture controversially cancelled over the Xmas period.
Wayne Saunders was called up as was Marc Burlong, Ryan Granshaw accompanied the
'Old Boys' on the bench.
What was shown was the depth of the squad as players slotted into various
positions around the park, Steve Coote playing in a back 3 with Burlong and
Mansfield ,while Liam Bright partnered White up front.
Colne started the better and had a brilliant work ethic in the whole of the
game, but it was mostly evident in the first period, as Exley, Mead and Saunders
closed down the dangerous middle 3 for the Engines.
The visitors got the breakthrough...
