Match Report - Reserve Team v West Bergholt Reserves
Published by Shane Exley on November 21, 2011 11:24
With spirits in the changing room high, and the playing conditions perfect for football, Colne entertained an experienced looking Bergholt outfit.
Once again they were on the back foot straight from the kick off. With only 20 seconds on the clock, the Bergholt ring winger drifted infield, skipping past several attempted tackles, before slotting the ball past Pudney. The visitors were well on top.
During a rare home attack, Adams was up-ended in the area, and the ref pointed to the spot. Bragg stroked the ball into the bottom left corner, only for the ref to disallow it for encroachment. Bragg re-took the spot kick, but this time the keeper saved well. Bergholt doubled their lead when they headed home, unmarked from a free kick. And then quickly made it three. Colne were on the attack down their right, but they lost the ball, it was swept cross field to the right winger, who again ran in to score.
Half Time 0 - 3
The second half was much the same as the first, West Bergholt making all the running. They scored a forth, when the centre forward escaped North’s attention.
The ref then started handing out cards to both sides as if Xmas had come early, Spillane and Stalley were booked for the home team. Colne threw on all three subs, but were still unable to create any real good chances. The visitors added a fifth from a corner. Leach found himself on the end of some over zealous tackling which went unpunished, then with Bragg receiving treatment, keeper Pudney was adjudged to have spoken out of turn too much and was shown red. Vince took over the gloves and was called on to make several saves before the final whistle blew.
