Earls Colne hosted Barnston AFC in a very entertaining game at 'The Rec'

Without Theedom, Exley, Robinson and Burlong, this gave a 1st team debut to Brett Mansfield, following in his father's footsteps to wear the Colne shirt. And a solid game at right back he had too.

The visitors took an early lead when a ball from Nash found the lively winger who dispatched a low shot past keeper Felton. Colne responded with a deflected shot from Will White looping over the keeper after referee Mr Fletcher had rightly waved aside an offside flag. Coote hit the Barnston post and Davies also went close heading onto the bar from a near post cross.Good attacking football from both sides saw the scores even at the break.
Barnston went ahead in the second period when a ball evaded the defence, and keeper Felton closed the striker down but the ball bobbled towards the line with Barnston quicker to follow up.
The visiting keeper then fumbled a cross from Huwes and the ball went into the net via Steve Hill's shoulder for the equaliser. Felton then made 2 great stops when one on one with the striker, and this proved valuable as Colne grabbed the winner with 10 minutes remaining, the keeper again unsure in his area and it was Steve Hill again who neatly tapped in through the custodians legs.

A good battling performance from Colne who never let their heads drop when behind, Steve Hill in contention for Colne's man of the match alongside Mini for two saves at the feet and Curtis' the rock' for dealing with his lively striker.

Felton, Mansfield, Nice, O'Brien, Lesiak, Johnstone, Davies, Hill, Huwes (Mead), White, Coote, Bragg, Whitnell
